Strategizing policy advocacy for the government requires appropriate and effective actions. According to Yanuar Nugroho, an activist, and senior researcher, one way is to produce a policy paper that contains a summary of the research results in two to three pages. The next way that needs to be done according to the figure who currently serves as the Indonesian SDGs Expert Coordinating Chair at the Ministry of Bappenas, is to hold audiences with the intended stakeholders directly, not in a public seminar.

Yanuar elaborated this during an information exchange activity between cross-organizational think tanks in Indonesia last November 2022. The event organized by IDRC (International Development Research Center) Canada through support from the Oak Foundation was attended by five Indonesian think tanks that are members of the Think Climate Initiative Indonesia. Namely, KEMITRAAN, the Inobu Foundation, World Resources Institute (WRI) Indonesia, KEMITRAAN (Partnership for Governance Reform), Center for Research and Regional Information (PATTIRO), and the Kota Kita Foundation.
