ABOUT

The Partnership for Governance Reform, or Partnership, was founded in 2000 following Indonesia’s first free and fair general elections in two generations in 1999. This historic election is an important step towards moving Indonesia beyond its authoritarian past and towards a democratic future. The Partnership was established as a multi-donor trust fund and is managed by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The Partnership was founded and led by a number of prominent Indonesian leaders from government, civil society and the private sector to promote the principles of good governance.

In 2003 the Partnership became an independent legal entity, registered as a non-profit civil legal association. At the same time, the UNDP program remained successful until the end of 2009. Since its inception in 2010 the Partnership has assumed full fiduciary responsibility and accountability for programs and developments.
